Laminate Veneer

Laminate means 'leaf' in Latin. Laminate Veneer can transmit light because it is as thin as a leaf with a thickness of 0.3-0.7 mm. In this way, it gives the teeth a natural and aesthetic appearance. It can be prepared in the desired color and form. It does not contain metal. It is made of full ceramic.

What is Laminate Veneer?

"Laminate" originates from Latin meaning 'leaf' or 'thin layer'. Laminate Veneer is as thin as 0.3-0.7 mm, allowing light to pass through, providing natural and aesthetic appearance to teeth. It can be prepared in desired colors and shapes and is made entirely of ceramic without any metal.

What is Porcelain Laminate Veneer?

Porcelain Laminate Veneer, also known as Veneer Tooth Covering, is a process of placing a thin covering on the front teeth. These coverings are usually made of porcelain or composite material to correct aesthetic issues related to tooth color, shape, or size. Minimal preparation is done on the teeth during application, and special coverings are prepared in the laboratory. After temporary coverings are placed, permanent coverings are bonded to the teeth, achieving a natural appearance and enabling easy aesthetic improvements.

In which cases can porcelain laminate veneer treatment be applied?

  • Mild alignment issues in front teeth
  • Minor crookedness
  • Treatment of broken teeth in the front area
  • Teeth discoloration due to various factors
  • Patients not responding to whitening treatments
  • Closing gaps between teeth (diastema)
  • Lengthening teeth in patients with very short teeth
  • Aesthetic improvement for various tooth shape and number anomalies

Due to less material loss and conservative treatment options when pulp is extensive, laminate veneer treatment can be applied.

In which cases can laminate veneer treatment not be applied?

  • Patients with teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Patients with cross or edge-to-edge closure in the front area
  • Tissue anomalies where there is no enamel tissue in the teeth, such as Amelogenesis Imperfecta

How is the Laminate Veneer Procedure Performed?

The steps for laminate veneer application are as follows:

  1. The patient is first thoroughly examined.
  2. Measurements are taken before the procedure.
  3. A Mock Up procedure shows the planned condition of your teeth after treatment.
  4. Once approved, the procedure begins.
  5. If necessary, teeth cleaning is done after removing dental calculus, followed by 0.5-0.7 mm abrasions.
  6. Measurements are taken again.
  7. Temporary prostheses are applied.
  8. Teeth are designed according to the measurements taken.
  9. Special adhesives for laminate porcelain are used to bond them to the tooth surface.
